Freedom of Information (FOI)

The FOI Act 2014 asserts the right of members of the public to obtain access to official information to the greatest extent possible consistent with the public interest and the right to privacy of individuals.

Data Protection

We fully respect your right to privacy. Any personal information which you provide to us will be treated with the highest standards of security and confidentiality, strictly in accordance with the Data Protection Acts 1988-2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 

Procurement

Information about our Department and our offices’ procurement of supplies and services including details of Department payments made for goods and services valued at €20,000 or more.

Access to Information on the Environment (AIE)

AIE regulations give legal rights to those seeking to access information on the environment from public authorities.

Re-use of Public Sector Information (PSI)

PSI regulations create a statutory framework for the re-use by businesses and citizens of existing information held by public sector bodies.

Irish Language Policy

Our Department’s Irish Language Scheme was prepared in accordance with the Guidelines under Section 11 of the Official Languages Act 2003.

Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015

The Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015 is designed to provide information to the public about who is lobbying whom about what.

Annual Budget

Exchequer funding for the Department, its offices and its agencies is provided by the Houses of the Oireachtas through the annual budget process managed by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

Our Department’s Governance Framework was developed in line with the Corporate Governance Standard for the Civil Service as part of the Civil Service Renewal Plan 2014.
