The Department, through a number of offices under its aegis, provides a wide variety of services to employers and employees in the area of workplace relations. A brief outline of the various offices and their current responsibilities is set out below.
Information and Customer Services (ICS) acts as a single contact portal for all workplace relations enquiries and complaints.
- Provides information through its contact centre in relation to employment, equality and IR rights and obligations
- Receives, registers and validates first instance complaints and dispute referrals and prepares the case for adjudication or inspection
- Deals with enquiries concerning all complaints

Employment Appeals Tribunal (EAT)
The EAT will remain in place for a period beyond 1st October, 2015 (the establishment day for the Workplace Relations Commission to deal with claims and appeals lodged with the Tribunal prior to 1st October, 2015.
The Labour Court
The Labour Court is the single appellate body dealing with appeals under employment rights, equality and industrial relations legislation. In addition, it establishes Joint Labour Committees, registers Joint Industrial Councils and investigates Trade Disputes affecting the public interest.
