Minister Heather Humphreys and IDA congratulates PCI on new High Containment Packaging Facility in Drogheda and welcomes announcement of 100 new jobs

Minister Heather Humphreys TD and IDA Ireland today congratulated leading pharmaceutical outsourcing services provider PCI Pharma Services (PCI) on the launch of its new contained packaging facility for the primary and secondary packaging of highly potent products at its newly acquired site in Drogheda, Co. Louth. The new facility will lead to the creation of more than 70 new jobs over the next five years while 50 new jobs will be created at its facility in Stamullen, Co. Meath. PCI has added c.30 positions at the Drogheda facility since its acquisition of Millmount Healthcare last year.

The project is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.

This investment by the company in contained packaging capabilities at the PCI Ireland site ensures PCI’s ongoing commitment to delivering the highest standards of safety and regulatory adherence for specialized medicines.

Welcoming the announcement, the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD, said “I warmly welcome the opening of PCI’s new facility in Drogheda, which will result in over 70 highly skilled new jobs being brought to the town. This is in addition to the 50 new jobs that will be created at their facility in Stamullen, Co. Meath. This is a great vote of confidence in what Ireland has to offer, especially in a regional location. It will provide additional facilities and services for our thriving pharmaceutical sector.”

CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan said: “This announcement by PCI is excellent news. It will add to the growing cluster of life sciences companies in Ireland. The availability of this range of clinical and pharmaceutical services will increase the attractiveness of Ireland as an international base for early stage speciality Biopharma companies. It demonstrates a strong commitment by the company to its Irish operations with 70 new jobs being created at this facility in Drogheda on top of the 30 already there and a further 50 jobs being added to its facility in Stamullen, Co. Meath. It is also proof that Ireland is viewed as an attractive location in Europe for global companies seeking to provide stability around the evolving Brexit situation. I congratulate President and CEO Bill Mitchell and his team and wish them continued success with their operations here.”
