Biopharma careers event at NIBRT with 15 leading biopharma employers

The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) held its fourth ‘Careers in Biopharma’ job fair with 15 companies, recruiting for positions, from across the biopharma sector taking part. The event saw prospective candidates matched up with blue-chip biopharma companies. Companies attending include CPL, Sanofi Genzyme, Emerson, Fastnet, Eurofins, Bristol Myers Squibb, KPC International, Johnson and Johnson, Merck Sharp Dohme, West Pharma, Parker, AbbVie, GSK, DPS Engineering.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD, attended the event and commented: ““The level of investment in biopharma to date reflects Ireland’s stellar international reputation for producing high value, high quality products. It is also a testament to the quality of our workforce. We are proud of the hard-won reputation Ireland has earned for developing and nurturing talent but we are certainly not resting on our laurels in that regard. That is why career fairs such as this are so welcome. It is important that we maintain our continued supply of first-rate talent and NIBRT is critical to producing the workers the industry needs here. The training the Institute provides has developed and grown Ireland’s biopharma cluster and bolstered our international reputation as a world leader in high tech biopharma processing”

Dominic Carolan, CEO of NIBRT said, “The Irish biopharma industry is experiencing a fantastic period of growth and has been boosted by a stream of significant new investments. With investment comes jobs and we are hoping this year’s ‘Careers in Biopharma’ jobs fair will match great candidates with suitable employers from across the industry. Indeed, the recent Expert Group on Future Skills Needs report on the Future Skills of the Biopharma Industry In Ireland predicted 8,400 new biopharma jobs by 2020. We recognise that the skills required for these jobs are very complex in their nature and we strive to address the skills gap in the industry. As part of the Springboard initiative, NIBRT provides training support to over 400 people each year to help develop the expertise required to work in the sector. In the last year alone, 65% of jobseekers who attended our training programmes gained employment in biopharma.”
