Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, Frances Fitzgerald TD, meets the British First Secretary of State and Minister for the Cabinet Office Damian Green MP

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, Frances Fitzgerald TD, today (Thursday, 6th July 2017) met with British First Secretary of State and Minister for the Cabinet Office Damian Green MP to discuss bilateral economic cooperation between Ireland and the UK.

In the first such meeting with a UK Cabinet member since assuming responsibility for the Enterprise and Innovation portfolio which includes responsibilities for the Single Market and Trade issues, the Tánaiste highlighted the depth and breadth of trade links that exist between Ireland and Britain.

Speaking in London the Tánaiste said, “Today was a useful opportunity to discuss with Damian Green the range of shared economic interests that exist between our two countries and to express my determination that our bilateral economic cooperation continues to prosper in the future.”

“Given our geographic proximity, we will continue to work to maintain our close relationship regardless of the UK’s future relationship with the EU” she concluded.

While in London the Tánaiste also received a briefing from IDA Ireland officials and met with local IDA clients to discuss the potential for enhancing investment in Ireland.
