Indeed to Hire 300 New Staff in Dublin

Expansion underpins rapid international growth

Research shows Dublin one of six leading tech hubs in Europe for tech employment

40% rise in searches on Indeed in Ireland in the past 12 months

Indeed, the world’s leading job site, today announced expansion plans for its Dublin-based headquarters for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), adding 300 new employees in the next two years. The company has already started recruiting for sales, client services, business development, marketing, finance and operations roles, which will help companies across EMEA to maximise the return on their recruitment spend, while continuing to offer the best job search experience for job seekers.

Indeed has sites in more than 50 countries and 28 languages. Unlike most job sites which only show paid listings, Indeed brings together the most job listings from employer career sites, staffing agencies, job boards, and newspaper career pages. Every month over 180 million job seekers find and apply for jobs on Indeed through a desktop, tablet, or smartphone with a single search. Indeed makes it easy for job seekers to create job alerts which notify them as soon as new jobs are posted meeting their unique criteria.

Indeed opened its first Dublin office in March 2012 and currently has a team of over 230 employees. Indeed has been supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland.

In Ireland Indeed has over 800,000 unique visitors each month, with an increase in traffic of 40% in the past 12 months as the economy improves and the site gains in popularity. There has been a notable shift in the way people search for jobs, with 54% of searches on Indeed.ie now via mobile or tablet compared to 33% just 2 years ago.

Commenting on the announcement Chris Hyams, President of Indeed said:

“Today’s announcement demonstrates Indeed's long term commitment to Ireland and our confidence, both in the strengthening Irish economy and in the deep pool of talent that Ireland offers. When we opened our Irish office in 2012 we had ambitious growth plans for Indeed and Ireland has played an integral role in our international expansion. We now have 230 employees, representing 18 nationalities in our Dublin office serving job seekers and employers all over the word. We plan to more than double the size of our Irish team by 2017 to continue to expand globally, find better ways to match candidates with employers, and make it easier for people to get jobs."

Recent research published by Indeed shows that Dublin is one of six leading “tech hub” cities in Europe for opportunities to work in technology, with nearly one in every fourteen available jobs coming from the sector.

Meeting with Indeed staff in Dublin today, Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD said:

"I am delighted to welcome this great announcement by Indeed of 300 new jobs. This is a vote of confidence in Dublin, where Indeed has based its EMEA headquarters, and shows the

potential for excellent employment opportunities from Dublin's success as a tech hub. The Government will continue to create the policy environment for companies like Indeed to locate and grow as we work to secure the recovery."

Speaking at the announcement, Tánaiste Joan Burton TD said:

"My over-riding focus as Minister for Social Protection has been on helping jobseekers back to work and so I know the value of Indeed's services - to both jobseekers and employers. You can search the site as a jobseeker looking for opportunities, and you can search it as an employer looking for CVs. This is exactly the kind of service that jobseekers and employers want – fast, comprehensive and accessible. And it’s an added bonus that Indeed’s success story means the company is now significantly expanding its own operations and creating more jobs in the process."

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD who has met several executives from Indeed.com on trade missions to the US since taking office, said:

“A key part of our jobs plans is persuading fast-growing ‘born-on-the-internet’ companies to establish operations here so that Ireland can share in their growth from an early stage. Indeed.com is a hugely impressive company in this area, and today’s announcement that it is creating 300 extra jobs is a huge boost. Not only is it an important endorsement of our FDI policies, but it also confirms the attractiveness of Ireland as a tech hub. I wish Chris and his team every success”.

Martin Shanahan, CEO IDA Ireland, which supported Indeed’s initial move into Ireland said:

“Indeed is one of the fastest growing tech companies in Ireland today. Indeed’s presence here in Ireland adds to our reputation as a hub of international tech and multilingual talent. The plans to add 300 new jobs at Indeed’s EMEA headquarters show that companies are continuing to find the right talent to facilitate their plans for rapid expansion.”
