Minister Bruton announced expansion plans at EPS Mallow facility - €3m investment and 50 extra jobs

Project supported by Department of Jobs through Enterprise Ireland 35 construction jobs also to be created

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, today (Thursday) along with EPS announced plans for a proposed new design and manufacturing centre of excellence. The €3 million investment will ensure the creation of 50 additional high skilled jobs, supporting EPS's activities in the water sector.

EPS is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland.

Founded in December 1968 and with 340 employees throughout Ireland, UK and Middle East, EPS is one of the leading design, build and asset management companies in the markets in which it operates. The new facility which is currently subject to a planning application process with Cork County Council, will be an industry leading centre of excellence for the design and manufacture of key products utilised in the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants.

EPS is unique in that not only does it provide the design, build and asset management aspects of projects, it also designs and manufactures the essential and critical equipment components required for a typical water and wastewater treatment plant. It is one of a few genuine end to end service providers in the global water sector.

Subject to a successful outcome to the planning process, the company intends to begin construction immediately in the summer, with an expected completion time of 12 months. Construction will create 35 construction jobs to facilitate the completion of the project.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton said: “Every region of the country is growing employment – at the heart of our jobs plan is accelerating that jobs growth in every part of the country. EPS is a great example of the type of company we are trying to support – an Irish engineering company, operating at the cutting edge of its sector, selling its goods around the world, and creating jobs in a regional town. This is a great boost for Mallow and I am delighted to congratulate Patrick and all his team”.

Julie Sinnamon, CEO, Enterprise Ireland welcomed the announcement adding “The expansion plans for EPS at its Mallow facility will further enhance the company’s ability to compete in international markets. The project will lead to the creation of 50 skilled jobs and I wish Patrick and the team continued success with the company.”

Patrick Buckley, Deputy Managing Director at EPS Group, commented: “The proposed expansion is the next necessary step in the development of our business, and will reinforce our position as one of the leading water and wastewater companies in our markets where we provide a full end to end service for our customers. EPS design, manufacture, install and operate 100% of the water and wastewater infrastructure it provides and we are unique in our sector for this.”

“This new facility is designed for and will be equipped with the latest in BIM design, lean manufacturing equipment and processes which will enable us to lead in the off-site build and construction methodology as well as skid assembly and containerised plug and play water and wastewater solutions. We have demonstrated that we can be competitive in our chosen markets with products manufactured in our existing facility for our Irish and export markets. This is thanks to the effort of our entire team, partners, customers and supply chain, supported by governmental agencies such as Enterprise Ireland, IDA and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland” added Patrick.
