Public consultation on the transposition of Directive (EU) 2019/633

Notice for the information of traders, companies, undertakings and other persons interested in matters relating to the agricultural and food supply chain.

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is inviting submissions to a public consultation on the transposition of Directive (EU) 2019/633 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on unfair trading practices in business-to-business relationships in the agricultural and food supply chain.

EU Directive 2019/633 on unfair trading practices in business to business relationships in the agricultural and food supply chain (the Directive) entered into force on 30 April 2019. EU law requires that the Directive must be transposed into national law by 1 May 2021 and will apply to new contracts from 1 November 2021. Any existing contracts in force at the time the measure comes into force must be brought into compliance within 12 months. A link to the text for your convenience:

The link contains relevant details about the Directive. Submissions should be sent to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and marked “EU Directive on UTPs in the Food Supply Chain”. Submissions can be e-mailed to UTPViews@agriculture.gov.ie or sent by hard copy to Food Industry Development Division, 6W, Agriculture House, Kildare Street, Dublin 2, D02 WK12, no later than close of business on Friday, 13 December 2019.
